Ms. Kathryn Patkalitsky

Welcome to the 2008-09 school year.  Parents, teachers and students call me Ms. Pat to make things much easier.  I am a graduate of Lock Haven State College and have been teaching for 29 years and am still learning from my students every day.  I look forward to working with you and your child this  year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns.  The best time to reach me at school will be from 10:50-11:15 am and 11:50-12:15 pm.  Let's work together and have a great year.

Ms. Patkalitsky's Classroom Rules 2007-08

  1. You must be in the room and in your seat when the bell rings.  (EXCEPTION:  If you need to use the restroom during class changes or before class, drop your things off in the room, tell someone that you are using the restroom, and get back to class ASAP.  As long as you follow this rule you will not be marked tardy to class
  2. Be Prepared!!!!!  Have ALL materials needed for class.........no passes will be given to your lockers.
  3. Always respect others.  Treat ALL  people like YOU want to be treated.  Please and thank you are still important words in my classroom.
  4. Our classroom is built on trust.  Please be honest and truthful with me.  I treat my students with the same respect that I expect them to show me.
  5. Do not be afraid or tentative to let me know if something is wrong on a particular day.  It's easier for all of us if we know that someone is having a bad day.  We all have them, including me.
  6. Keep the room clean.  No one should have to clean up after you.
  7. ALL TESTS MUST BE TAKEN IN PENCIL.  I prefer that homework be done in pencil but may be done in pen IF you can be neat.
  8. When the bell rings, all students will remain in their seats until they are dismissed by the teacher.  This is a sign of respect for the teacher.

WE'RE A TEAM -- TEAMS WORK TOGETHER, HELP EACH OTHER AND ARE NOT
                                   AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP.

FOLLOWING SIMPLE RULES WILL LEAD TO A GREAT YEAR !!!!

Ms. Patkalitsky's Grading/Assignment Policy  2008-2009

  1. I grade all work.  Grades will be based on points earned on all homework, worksheets, tests and quizzes.  I will mark papers with the number of points earned over the total number of points available.  Tests and quizzes are graded the same as any other assignment.
  2. 9 week grades will be computed as number of points earned divided by the total number of available points.
  3. All class work and homework must be done in order to earn points for that assignment.
  4. Some homework will be given when students cannot finish it during class.  The homework must beturned in when it is due;  if it is not completed and handed in, the student will not receive full credit for the assignment.
  5. All assignments are due on time.  In the case of an absence, it will be due the day after your return.
  6. It will be your responsibility to ask for any make-up work.
  7. I prefer that all assignments be done in pencil unless your writing is extremely neat.  This is something that each individual student and I can talk over if necessary.
  8. All assignments must include the student's name, date, period and class at the top of the assignment.
