SCHOLARSHIPS, TESTING, FINANCIAL AID, AND STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES
Blueprint for Success Summer Youth Program - This is a two-week, high impact summer youth career development program for youth ages 13-17. PICCC staff works in partnership with area businesses to offer this opportunity for career exploration. Discover what it takes to become successful in your career! Student will be required to write a personal statement of interest. Information is available in Guidance. There is a $100 registration fee.
Turk Jones Memorial Trust Fund/Claude Schickling Foundation Scholarships - This scholarship is available to any senior who will be enrolling in an environmental field relating to conservation, forestry or agriculture. Students may pick up information in the Guidance Office. Deadline to apply is February 22, 2012.
Les Edmondson Scholarship Fund -- Students must be an athlete, be accepted to a 4 year college or enrolled at a technical school, and must submit an essay that describes how involvement in sports has positively affected your life or how a coach has positively affected your life. Applications are in Guidance and must be submitted prior to May 1, 2012.
Gladys A. Tozier Scholarship Fund - This scholarship is awarded to a senior living in Clearfield County. Scholarship is based on need, scholarship, and character. Deadline to apply is March 22, 2012.
Investing in Our Future: eSchoolView's Student Training and Scholarship Program -
This scholarship contest is open to Seniors interested in pursuing graphic design, Web design, journalism, or other arts. There will be ten $1,000 scholarships awarded. Additional information is available in Guidance or online at http://www.eschoolview.com/scholarships. Deadline to apply is March 30th.
Buick Achievers Scholarship Program - High School Seniors who plan to enroll full time at a four-year university and who plan to major in a field of study focusing on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry can apply for scholarships. For more information, visit the website at www.buickachievers.com. Deadline to apply is February 29, 2012.
Clearfield Bank & Trust Company Academic Scholarships - Six area high school Seniors will be awarded scholarships in the amount of $1,000. Students are expected to maintain a "B" average and play an active role in school and/or community activities. Students will need to write an essay on a designated topic. Applications are in Guidance. Deadline to apply is April 5, 2012.
Pennsylvania American Water's Stream of Learning Scholarship - This $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior who lives in the Pennsylvania American Water service area. Student must plan to attend a two or four year college or technical school; plan to study environmental science, biology, chemistry or environmental engineering; complete an application; write an essay about their career interests; submit a transcript; and include a letter of recommendation. Applications are in the Guidance Office and deadline to apply if February 29, 2012.
Redkin Scholarship Program - This scholarship will be available to a student who has been accepted to The Salon Professional Academy in Altoona, PA. Information is available in Guidance and deadline to apply is March 23, 2012.
The Pittsburgh Regional Food Service Association Scholarship - This $3,000 scholarship is available to a senior who plans to attend a university pursuing a food service related field. Student must have a 3.0 grade point average, submit transcript of grades, submit two letters of recommendation, and submit an essay explaining the student's interest in the Food Service profession. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2012.
Best Buy Scholarship Program - Best Buy is awarding up to $1.2 million in scholarships for students in grades 9 thru 12. Individual scholarships will be $1,000 each. Students need to have solid grades plus community service or work experience. Apply online at www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com or www.at15.com . Deadline to apply is February 15, 2012.
Edgar Snyder "Words to Be Heard" Scholarship - High School Seniors who will be attending a four-year college or university are encouraged to participate. Students must submit a completed application and presentation that discourages underage drinking and drunk driving or texting while driving. All information must be submitted to Edgar Snyder and Associates by March 30, 2012. Grand prize is a $5,000 scholarship with runner-up winners receiving $2,500 or $1,000 scholarships.
PSECU Scholarships - Six $6,000 scholarships are available to students who are PSECU members. If you are a member by December 30, 2011, you can download an application at psecu.com/scholarships. If you need more information about becoming a member, please stop in the Guidance Office. Application must be received at the PSECU office by February 29, 2012.
KFC Colonel's Scholars Program - Seniors with financial need planning to pursue a bachelor's degree are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Student must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.75, enroll in a university within their state of residence, and be a U.S. citizen. Applications will be accepted online at www.kfcscholars.org between December 1, 2011 and February 8, 2012.
Pittsburgh Technical Institute Scholarships - PTI supports high school Seniors active in student organizations by awarding partial tuition scholarships valued up to $6,000. A list of these scholarships is available in Guidance. All scholarships will be applied to July or October 2012 enrollments or January 2013 enrollments. Deadline to apply if March 2, 2012.
University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy (formerly The Pennsylvania Governor's School for Health Care) - Sophomores or Juniors who demonstrate academic achievement, especially in the sciences, an interest or potential in health care and a record of leadership and service activities may apply. Student must commit to being in residence for the full 28-day program, which does not allow trips home. Cost is $2,400. Applications are available in Guidance and deadline to apply is February 15, 2012.
Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship (formerly Governor's School) - Sophomores or Juniors who demonstrate academic achievement, an interest in business, international relations or economic development, and a record of leadership and service activities may apply. Tuition is $2,950. Applications deadline is February 15, 2012.
Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week - Sophomores or Juniors who possess a sincere desire to learn about our American free enterprise system may apply. This program is held in the summer of 2012. Students must complete 2 brief essays stating why they would like to participate, as well as listing past and present scholastic and extracurricular activities and achievements. There is a $235 non-refundable fee for this program. Deadline to apply is April 6, 2012.
Financial Aid - Students may apply online for federal financial aid after Jan 1st at www.fafsa.ed.gov
