Whats Happening at POASDNorth Lincoln Hill Chorus and Band Concert - The North Lincoln Hill Chorus and Band Concert will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the senior high auditorium. Tickets for the concert will be $2 for adults and $1 for students and senior citizens. The concert will feature the 5th & 6th Grade students in groups including the band, chorus, band fest, chorus fest, and several solo presentations. All the students are under the direction of music teacher Valerie Stiner. The public and parents are invited to this showcase of the talents of our young performers. Band Fest--North Lincoln Hill had ten sixth grade students participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association's District 4 Sixth Grade Band Fest. This event was held at the Mifflin County Middle School on Friday May 3rd. The students rehearsed all day with 175 sixth grade students from schools through out Centre, Clinton, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, & Clearfield Counties. Approximately 22 school districts were represented in this fest. It culminated in a performance for the parents and community at 7 PM under the direction of Mr. Art Belfoire. Kudos go to in the front row Kendra Carns, Jalyn James, Caleb Smith, Meizhen Belko, Gage Fulmer and in the back row Alexis Hahn, Rachel Simpson, Allyson Fenton, Jimmy Bryan, & Kalob Sperling. Chorus Fest--Recently we had five fifth grade students participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association's District 4 Fifth Grade Chorus Fest. This event was held at the Huntingdon Area Senior High School on Friday April 26th. The students rehearsed all day with about 130 fifth grade students from schools through out Centre, Clinton, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, & Clearfield Counties. Approximately 22 school districts were represented in this fest. It culminated in a performance for the parents and community at 7 PM. Congratulations to Samantha Bainey, Hunter Martin, Josh Rea, Megan Kosut, and Raeanne Kelley for a job well done! Senior High Chorus Concert - The senior high chorus concert will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 7:30 PM in the senior high auditorium. There is no charge for admission, but we are collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the local food bank. The concert will feature all the Senior High Choirs, including: Chorus, Select Choir, Women's Choir, and Senior High County Choir. KIDS LOVE ART - On April 26, 2013 four students from the Osceola Mills Elementary School were selected to represent the Philipsburg-Osceola School District in KIDS LOVE ART, an art exhibition featuring elementary artwork from 5 school districts held at the Art Alliance in Lemont, PA. Skylar Askey, Andrew Faust, Reilly Vroman and David Weaver each received a medal and certificate for their outstanding artwork during the opening night reception. Many thanks to OME art teacher Karen King, who arranged this opportunity for OME students to exhibit their artwork at a public event. Click here to see photos AMVETS State Essay Contest Winner! P-O school district is proud to announce that we have another AMVETS State Essay Contest winner! 8th Grader Rachel Rutter’s essay about the importance of voting won 1st Place at the state level. Thank you, Rachel, for showing your pride for your country and the freedoms that our Veterans have fought to preserve!Congratulations, Josalyn Miller, a student in Greg Sypa's classroom, won the AMVETS State Essay Contest for 6th grade. The essay asked the question "Why is it important to vote?" By taking 1st place at the state level, her essay is now entered into the national competition. She will also attend the award ceremony at the AMVETS Pennsylvania State Convention on June 29th.
