Volunteers needed to help create new Wall of Fame for distinguished alumni

Walk into the Philipsburg-Osceola Senior High School gymnasium, and you’ll find trophies and recognition for athletes.

Now plans are underway to expand the honors to more individuals, and the school is seeking volunteers to help with the effort.

The senior high school is planning to create a new “Wall of Fame” for alumni who have achieved success in the “real world” using a P-O education. This includes business leaders, community leaders, doctors and other alumni who have gone on to pursue their passions and do great work.

The school is seeking two community volunteers who would like to serve on a committee to help plan the project. The committee’s responsibilities include creating a nominating committee, establishing criteria for selection and approving candidates, among other duties.

“Our motto at the high school this year is ‘Inspire Success,’ and this Wall of Fame is a perfect example of us carrying out our message,” said Principal Mr. Jeffrey Hartmann. “It will be great to have a designated place to recognize distinguished alumni. Our students will have the opportunity to see what others have done after they’ve graduated from P-O.”

Community members who are interested in serving on the committee should contact Rick Shetrom, P-O senior high social studies teacher, at rshetrom@pomounties.org by Oct. 28.
