The Horatio Alger National Career and Technology Scholarship is available to seniors planning to pursue a 2 year or less technical degree or certification program in the fall.  Student must demonstrate financial need.  Apply online at application.horatioalger.org. Applications are due June 15, 2018.

 

The Sattiraju Law Firm is pleased to announce their $1,000 Employment Law Scholarship.  This scholarship is available to any student who will be attending an accredited college or university and planning to attend law school in the future.  Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to apply.  Deadline to apply is May 31, 2018; apply online at http://www.sattirajulawfirm.com/#scholarship-application.

 

The Bill Dix Music Prize Application is now available for a P-O Senior who displays a genuine love of music.  The student must be utilizing a musical talent in the high school structure or another setting and must plan to continue a musical activity or endeavor after graduation.  Information is in the Counseling Office and application deadline is May 21, 2018.

 

Information on the Christian Witness Scholarship is now available in the Counseling Office.  Graduating Seniors are invited to write a 500 word essay on the theme, “Living Your Faith”, and provide two references.  Deadline is May 11, 2018.

 

The Osceola Mills Veterans’ Organization will be awarding five $500 scholarships to Philipsburg-Osceola Senior High Seniors. The applicant must be a relative of a current or past member of the military, be accepted to post-secondary schooling, and must show evidence of financial need and community service.  Information is available in the Counseling Office and application deadline is May 7, 2018.

 

The Philipsburg KIWANIS Scholarship application is now available in the Counseling Office.  Students must submit an application, 3 letters of reference, and an essay on “What Community Service Means to Me”.  Applications must be mailed directly to Kiwanis Club by May 1, 2018.

 

iRONman Scholarship Essay Contest:  Student must attend a trade school, community college or other accredited university. Parent/guardian must be a member of the Moose or a union member and proof of association. Scholarship funds will be awarded on the quality of the essay, regardless of personal financial of the participant. Essays must be received by May 1, 2018.  See attachment for mailing address and more information:  iRon Man Scholarship Information

 

The Les Edmondson Scholarship Fund is offering a scholarship for student athletes who plan to enroll in a four-year college or technical college.  Essay is required on the topic of how involvement in sports has positively affected your life or how a coach has positively affected your life.  Please stop in the Counseling Office for an application with a deadline of May 1, 2018. Application must be sent directly to the committee.

 

The United Electric Cooperative is offering the “Shine the Light” scholarship for the 3rd year! This scholarship is available to Seniors who plan to attend a university or technical school and have an active electric account.  Information is available in our Counseling Office and applications must be postmarked no later than May 1, 2018.

Pointe Pest Control in Pennsylvania is offering a $500 ROFL (“rolling on floor laughing”) Scholarship.  Applicants must submit a joke, story or quick video that makes people laugh.  Show your personal creativity!  Information is available in the Counseling Office.  Application deadline is April 30, 2018. The Virginia Higgins Suhey $1,000 Scholarship application is now available to a graduating senior who is pursuing a post-secondary education and has been accepted.  Student must have a GPA of 3.25 or higher and demonstrate financial need.  Application deadline is April 20, 2018.

 

The Cynthia Edvar Scholarship is for children of Centre County Government Employees; this includes Centre Crest and Centre County Prison Employees.  The student must be enrolling in a post-secondary program in the fall of 2018 in the fields of social or human services or in the care of the elderly.  Deadline to apply is April 20, 2018.  Applications will be accepted online at https://centre-foundation.academicworks.com/users/sign_up.

 

Colonel Gerald F. Russell Scholarship:  The Russell Scholarship Fund was established by the Nittany Leathernecks to honor Colonel Gerald F. Russell, USMC (Ret), a patriot, humanitarian, and combat veteran.  Having witnessed the tragedy of war first-hand, this fund holds special meaning to Colonel Russell.  This fund provides scholarships to the children, grandchildren, or siblings of local patriots who have served their country with honor through their service in the Armed Services.  Information on applying for this scholarship is available in the Counseling Office.  Deadline to apply is April 20, 2018.

 

The Pennsylvania Kiwanis Foundation Scholarship Program has four scholarships available online at www.pkfonline.org. These scholarships include the:  Neiman Endowed Scholarship, Kiwanian Dependent Child Scholarship, Circle K Scholarships, and Key Club Scholarships.  Completed online applications are due by Sunday, April 15, 2018.

 

The POESP Scholarship is available for relatives of current POESP members.  The child, grandchild, niece, or nephew of a union member is eligible to apply.  The student must be a member of the Senior class and accepted to further schooling after graduation.  Application and essay are due in the Counseling Office by April 7, 2018.

 

The Clearfield County Counselors’ Association Scholarship application will be presented to a student who is entering a helping profession – i.e. teaching, counseling, healthcare, etc.  It will be given to a student from one of the member schools in the association.  Applications are available in the Counseling Office.  Deadline to apply is April 6, 2018.

 

The Janet McCracken Hansard Memorial Scholarship application is now available in the Counseling Office.  This scholarship will be awarded to one local graduating senior who embodies the same spirit of service/volunteering and is pursuing a degree in social work. Deadline is April 4, 2018.

 

The S & T Bank Student Scholarship Program is a competitive scholarship program available for college or vocational schools to students who have an S & T Checking account. Applications are available in the high school counseling office.  Applications must be sent to S & T Bank and postmarked by March 31, 2018.

 

Clearfield-Jefferson Suicide Prevention Team will be presenting a $2,500 scholarship to one deserving senior residing in Clearfield County.  This scholarship is an effort to encourage those who are dedicated to helping with the prevention of suicide.  Information is available in the Counseling Office.  Deadline to apply is March 31, 2018.

 

The Philipsburg VFW is sponsoring the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Awards contest.  Application deadline is March 31, 2018.  Art must be done on paper or canvas.  Digital are and photography are not accepted. Application and information is available in the Counseling Office.

 

The Centre County Bar Association Scholarship:   The Centre County Bar Associations’ purpose is to foster and protect excellence in legal services to the public and to promote respect, civility, and professionalism within the legal community.  This scholarship will be presented to an outstanding high school senior in each of the Centre County school district.  Applicants must be in good academic standing, have at least 50 hours of community service and complete an application.  Deadline to apply is March 30, 2018. Scott Michael Long Scholarship:  Inspiring the love of music and/or computers for Philipsburg-Osceola students.  Michael and Jacqueline Long established this fund in memory of their son, Scott Michael Long, and to honor his love of both computers and music.  The fund will be given to two Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School seniors who want to further their education in the field of music and/or computers.  Deadline to apply is March 30, 2018.  Info is available in the Counseling Office.

 

Michael Davis Mattil Memorial Scholarship:  This fund was created in memory of Mr. Ed Mattil’s son, Michael, who was an editor at Little-Brown Publishing in Boston.  Ed Mattil considers investing in the education of youth as one of his life goals.  The fund will provide five scholarships, named “The Next Step Scholarships”, to each of the five Centre County school districts.  These scholarships are to be used for post-secondary education, not limited to pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree, but may be for an associates’ degree or a trade or vocational certifications in a wide range of technical areas.  Information on how to apply is available in the Counseling Office with a March 30, 2018 deadline.

 

William Keno Beezer Scholarship Fund:  Although Keno retired in August, 2010, his interest in the welfare of the youth he has supported for 37 years as Executive Director of the Moshannon Valley YMCA was not left at the door.  This fund provides scholarships to qualified graduating seniors in three local school districts, Philipsburg-Osceola and Moshannon Valley which were served by the YMCA Keno managed, and West Branch Area which is the district Keno grew up in.  Information on how to apply is available in the Counseling Office and deadline to apply is March 30, 2018.

 

The Gladys Tozier Scholarship is available to a senior residing in Clearfield County and is awarded on the basis of need, scholarship and character.  The application is available in the Counseling Office and must be returned before March 26, 2018.

 

Information and applications on the Centre County Outstanding Young Woman Scholarship Program is located on the counter in the main office.  Scholarships are given in 5 categories: Scholastic and Achievement, Interview, Creative and Performing Arts, Aerobics and Fitness, Presence and Presentation.  This program is open to girls in grades 10 and 11. Applications are also available at http://www.centrecountyoyw.org Deadline to apply is March 23, 2018.

 

The Edgar Snyder and Associates 2018 “Words to Be Heard” Scholarship application is now available.  Students must create a presentation that discourages underage drinking and drunk driving.  Or, create a proposal to prevent distracted driving, such as texting while driving.  Application and presentation must be postmarked and mailed directly to them by March 23, 2018.

 

The Pennsylvania American Water Stream of Learning Scholarship is available to seniors who plan to attend a two or four year college or technical school and plan to study environmental science, biology, engineering or chemistry.  Applications are available in the Counseling Office and must be postmarked by March 23, 2018.

 

The Questeq (“Mark Stainbrook Memorial Technology Award”) applications are now available to Seniors in our district.  They will be awarding six $1,000 technology awards to qualifying seniors.  Application guidelines include: a 400-600 word essay describing how your education has been influenced by technology; plan to enroll in a two or four year college or technical school; demonstrate academic strength with a minimum 3.0 GPA; and demonstrate professionalism-service-leadership in community involvement and extracurricular school activities. Applications are available in the Counseling Office or online at http://www.questeq.com/scholarship. Applications must be received by Questeq by March 16, 2018.

 

CNB Bank Scholarship:  High school seniors with intentions to further their education at a college or university and seeking a business-related degree may apply.  Applications are available in the Counseling Office.  Essay is required, along with a summary of community and school actives, a letter of recommendation from past or present educator, and a non-family reference.  Deadline to turn application into the guidance office is March 16, 2018.

 

The United Steelworkers Hugh Carcella Scholarship Program offers scholarships each year with a total value of $4,000. The applicant must be a member in good standing or the son or daughter of a member (living, deceased, or disabled) of United Steelworkers, District 10 (Eastern) local union participating in the Scholarship Program. Applications may be obtained from participating local unions.  No application will be accepted after March 15, 2018.
