In collaboration with the Centre County Community Foundation, the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District is proud to announce the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District Educational Scholarship Fund that will be used to create scholarships for Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School seniors who plan to continue their education at a  vocational school, two or four year college or university and demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

What is the Centre County Community Foundation?

The Centre County Community Foundation was created in 1981 by Judge R. Paul Campbell to serve Centre County and the Centre County Community.  It is a public charity dedicated to meeting the changing needs and assisting individuals, families and business throughout Centre County plan and carry out their charitable giving.  The foundation is now a collection of over 160 individual funds, all dedicated to improving the quality of life of our communities by their support of a variety of charitable objectives.  For more information about the Centre County Community Foundation go to their website www.centrecountycf.org.

Why is the district partnering with the Centre County Community Foundation?

The Centre County Community Foundation is a unique community resource because it allows charitable giving and local decision making.  The Centre County Community Foundation has successfully worked with other Centre County School Districts to set up a way for alumni, community members, and businesses to support the district and its students.  Funds contributed to the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District Educational Scholarship Fund through the Centre County Community Foundation will be invested with the assets of the Foundation and monitored by its Board of Directors and Investment Committee.  As the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District Educational Scholarship Fund reaches $25,000, distributions for scholarships will be made annually.  The scholarship guidelines and decision making will be handled by the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District.

Having the funds of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District Educational Scholarship Fund administered and invested by the Investment Committee and the Board of Directors of the Foundation allows the school district to tap into the financial management resources that would normally not be possible.  The Investment Committee recommends specific investment policy and is responsible for guiding, monitoring and implementing the policy and reporting performance results.  Copies of the Centre County Community Foundation annual audit report, IRS form 990 and Investment Policy are available at the Foundation office located at P.O. Box 648, State College, PA 16804.  Or contact them at 814-237-6229 or info@centrecountycf.org.
