The local chapter is named for Isabel la Católica, wife of Ferdinand and the first queen of what has become modern At POSH, a student is eligible for membership in the Sociedad by achieving a 94% average in the first marking period in Spanish 3 OR Spanish 4/AP. Interested students must also submit a "perfile" - a statement of their intention to continue studying Spanish and what they hope to contribute to the organization. Each year, those who meet the listed requirements are invited to accept membership in the Sociedad. The officers of the society conduct the induction ceremony, held early in the second semester, entirely in Spanish. Each inductee signs the register and receives a certificate of membership and a candle representing the light of knowledge.
