    TO FORMER SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS OR PARENTS OF FORMER SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS OF THE PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT

    TO FORMER SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS OR PARENTS OF FORMER SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS OF THE PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT:

    The Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District Special Education Department will begin to destroy records considered inactive for anyone born before 1996. Records will be destroyed between October 21, 2024, through December 20, 2024. Those records would be for special education students that have left the education system by: 1. Graduation; 2. Moving from the district; or 3. Leaving school prior to graduation. If you are the student or parent, you may obtain these documents. Records to be released and/or destroyed are the Individual Education Plan (IEP), the Evaluation Report (ER), and Psychological Evaluations created by this school district. Only records prior to 2014 will be released and/or destroyed. If you believe your records may be included within this group and you would like to obtain your records, you must make a WRITTEN REQUEST within ten (10) days of this notice to the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District Special Education Department, 200 Short Street, Philipsburg, PA 16866. Please include a phone number where you may be contacted. We will verify that records do exist and you will be notified by phone as to when records may be picked up. Identification and signature will be required for release. No records will be mailed. If we do not hear from you within ten (10) days, all records will be destroyed.

Mission Statement

The Philipsburg-Osceola Area Educational Foundation is a recognized  § 501 (c) (3) non-profit group, as defined by the Internal Revenue Act, which was formed in 2014 and dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities available to students of Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District. The Foundation was established to receive the generous, tax-deductible donations made by friends of the District and to then use those gifts to improve the educational experience for all learners and in furtherance of the stated mission of the Foundation. In the future, the Foundation plans to offer scholarship opportunities, purchase and procure necessary educational resources, support athletic and extracurricular activities, and reward academic excellence and professional achievement, just to name a few.
