The Mountie Cheerleaders placed first in The Launch competition in Lewisburg, Pa over the weekend! They were also named Grand Champions for the highest score for all schools in attendance! We are P-O Proud!

Anti Hunger
Philipsburg and Osceola Mills Elementary schools held a competition this September during Hunger Awareness Month. Both schools collected over 2,800 cans of food which were donated to the Moshannon Valley YMCA's Anti-Hunger Program. Additionally, $558 were collected and donated! We are P-O Proud! Pre-registration for kindergarten classes is currently underway for students who will attend Philipsburg Osceola Area School District. Children who will be five years old on or before August 31, 2023 may register for kindergarten. Kindergarten Registration will take place in 3 steps

Step 1: Pre-Registration: • Parents will be able to pre-register starting January 12, 2023. Please call either OSCEOLA MILLS ELEMENTARY (814-343-4105) or PHILIPSBURG ELEMENTARY (814-342-2870) if pre-registering by phone or can stop by the office at either building to pick up a pre-registration form. (There will not be online pre-registration.) Osceola Mills Elementary School Philipsburg Elementary School 400 Coal St. 1810 Black Moshannon Rd. Osceola Mills, PA 16666 Philipsburg, PA 16866 • Pre-registration forms are asked to be turned in by January 31, 2023 Step 2: Registration Packet Completion: • Registration Packets will be sent out beginning February 6, 2023. (AFTER Pre-Registration is complete.) • Once registration packets are turned in to the building secretary, your in- school registration appointment will be scheduled for March. Materials Required: • Completed registration forms • Proof of age (Birth Certificate) • Proof of residency (A document with your current address: Driver’s license, vehicle registration, DOT identification card, deed, rental lease, current utility bill, property tax bill, or credit card bill) • Immunization record ✓ DTaP - 4 required - 1 after child’s 4th birthday ✓ MMR - 2 required ✓ Hepatitis B - 3 required ✓ Polio - 4 required – 1 after child’s 4th birthday ✓ Varicella (Chicken Pox vaccine) -2 required Step 3: In School Registration Appointments (To be scheduled by the building secretary) • March 13 & 14, 2023: 1 p.m.-7 p.m.- PHILIPSBURG ELEMENTARY (814-342-2870) • March 20 & 21, 2023 1 p.m.-7 p.m.- OSCEOLA MILLS ELEMENTARY (814-343-4105)







OME had over 80 students and their families attend Cozy up and Read on January 18th, 2023.  The event was sponsored by Title 1. Students read books with their families, heard stories read by students and staff.  Each student went home with multiple books by the end of the evening!




The Mountie varsity wrestling team recently finished 4-1 at the Mountaineer Classic Duals to finish 2nd!  The team defeated Punxsutawney (58-15), Glendale (45-24), West Branch (42-32), and Altoona (34-24).  The team is now 9-4 on the season.  Congratulations!


P-O Winter Newsletter 2022

Congratulations to P-O's Carson Long! Carson was voted Centre Daily Times Athlete of the Fall Season!



Congratulations to the Lady Mounties Girls' Basketball team on winning the THARP Basketball tournament this weekend! $1300 was raised toward the Taylor Harpster Scholarship!



The P-O Middle School Library has a new Story Cube! Students can print short stories or write them!





The next P-O Community Outreach Committee meeting is this Thursday, December 8 at 6:30pm in the P.O.M.S. Library. All community members are encouraged to attend!


Staff at OME held an assembly to teach their students how to be SAFE, RESPONSIBLE AND RESPECTFUL on the school bus!






PE Holds PridE together 


Congratulations goes out to Lainey Pelka and Sarah Kronenwetter for winning the Positive Action Slogan Contest at Philipsburg Elementary!  Lainey and Sarah combined their ideas to develop the winning slogan for the school's Positive Action Program, "PE Holds PridE together! #Everykidsawinner."  

The girls had a poster made with their slogan and received a Wal-Mart gift card.  We are PE Proud of them!



The POASD Community Outreach Committee will be meeting Thursday, December 8th in the POMS Library at 6:30pm

Congratulations to Ben Coudriet! Ben was selected for the NAfME All-National Honros Ensemble Mixed Choir! Only 239 members were selected nationwide! We are P-O Proud!!
