Laser Engraving in 8th Grade
Students are enjoying the new laser engraver in Mr. Wood's shop class this year. The past few years students have made End Tables in the 8th grade elective and students are doing them again this year. However, this year students have an opportunity to engrave letters, pictures, and symbols to their table tops.
Mr. Wood’s Manufacturing-Engineering students built outdoor benches for the P-O Middle School.

The POMS Reading Rhinos took 2nd place in the 2021 Reading Competition.
POMS students participated in the MathCounts Competition Series on February 6th. Congratulations to Ella Wallace who qualified for the Chapter Invitational.

Great American Smoke Out Poster Contest Winners
6th grade students, Mason Marlow (1st place), Hayden Irwin (2nd), and Logan Snedden (3rd) received Amazon gift cards as awards for their Graet American Smoke Out poster designs. The Great American Smoke Out poster contest is sponsored by the Clearfield-Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission.

Light the World with Kindness!
The Autistic Support class at POMS started a kindness campaign throughout the school called Light the World with Kindness. Students and staff members completed light bulbs that described various acts of kindness.

8th grade students in Mrs. Matson's and Mrs. Bush's classes completed Bloom Ball projects during the COVID-19 extended school closure.
POMS students raised $3,938.60 for pediatric cancer during their annual Mini-THON.
math counts
The POMS Math Counts team took 3rd place in the Centre Region on Saturday, February 1st.

5th grade students enjoyed their day reading with Max and Finnegan. POMS participates in a Therapy Dog Program to promote reading!
Mighty Mountie Mentors
The Mighty Mountie mentors at POMS presented an anti-bullying program, Empowering the Bystander, to 5th grade students.
5th grader Nora Burns won the poster contest sponsored by Centre County Recycling and Weis Markets. Nora and POMS received Weis gift cards, and all POMS students received a calendar featuring Nora's work.

Congratulations to Mrs. Miller on receiving a STEM grant to support the 6th grade coding program at POMS!
Happy Veteran's Day!
POMS student, Paul Dobo, won the VFW's Patriot's Pen essay contest for Grades 6-8, and POHS student, Paige Rishel, won the VFW's Voice of Democracy audio essay contest for Grades 9-12. Both students wrote and spoke about the topic of "What Makes America Great." They also presented their essays in front of veterans and their families during the VFW's Veteran's Day ceremony.

Teachers and staff at the PO Middle School celebrated Halloween by dressing up as the 101 Dalmatians.
