Over the past marking period, students from Philipsburg Elementary and Osceola Mills Elementary Schools' Gifted and Enrichment programs participated in a “Stem Design Challenge” against students from all around Clearfield, Centre, and Clinton Counties. The K'Nex Spartans placed first with their prototype of an incline transportation system and will move onto the regional competition on May 13. Members of that team include Devin Long, Teddy Hendricks, Nick Webster, and Heath Yergin.

Congratulations to Bus #19 for winning PE's April Bus Incentive Contest! These students were Safe, Responsible, and Respectful on the bus throughout the month of April. The students and bus driver earned a donut party for their excellent behavior!

Mikayla's Voice
Philipsburg Elementary wants to thank Ms. Kim from Mikayla's Voice for allowing our students to work on the "Wheels of Friendship" Project! The Wheels of Friendship Project allows students from all grades to work together on a painting project where they can enjoy valuable discussions about differences, understanding, and acceptance.

Together, they decide how their painting will remind students to embrace everyone at PE. Through collaboration on the concept and creation itself, students will learn the value of working together and how everyone brings their own ideas and talents to the project.
Philipsburg Elementary recently had Madison Wurst from our Food Service provider, Metz, discuss nutritional values in apples with all students.  PE students were able to sample different types of apples and learn valuable information about the fruit!

Philipsburg Elementary Kindergarten students had their Thanksgiving Feast on Friday, November 19. Just like at the original Thanksgiving Feast, the students made their own meals and discussed the history of Thanksgiving.

Students at Philipsburg Elementary recently wore yellow to school to show support of Mikayla's Voice. Mikayla’s Voice develops and coordinates unique and innovative programs that allow children with and without disabilities to work and play together. These programs are designed to showcase children’s talent and creativity as they demonstrate successful inclusion in education, art, and sports, and recreation.

STEM Night: Grades 3-5
Philipsburg Elementary grade 3-5 students and families participated in a STEM night on November 15. The evening started with the book How to Catch a Turkey, then students solved binary code riddles, completed a fall digital breakout room, and created marble mazes. After those centers, families worked together to create a turkey trap making sure to stick to a $100 budget.

On October 26, students and families will come to school for a night of reading and trivia. Our students will have the opportunity to read stories while "camping" within the building.
